Opening Speech *Ahem*
Time flies, I must say. It's almost September and the class has JUST started a blog.
Life's full of irony. That's what they all say.
First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to Andrew and his fellow editors. Kudos to all of you.
I fully appreciate all your efforts to hook this blog up, along with the help of others. Guess I should add a little effort by adding a few entries here and there to spice things up a little or perhaps to "increase readership".
5 Honesty 2007 of Elias Park Primary is a pretty interesting class to teach. This is probably the class that I shout the least throughout my teaching. Or perhaps time has not been kind on me. Even the mightiest lion will turn old and weak someday.
While my health deterioriates a little, it delights me to see that 5H is enjoying learning. Maybe bearing with the discomfort is worth it afterall. I feel guilty whenever I cannot make it to the school to teach. It saddens me further when I hear about the quality of the relief teachers. But it seems a fact that there are not many good teachers out there anymore, much to the dismay of many people.
On the bright side, teacher's day is arriving soon. It gives all teachers a short break. I don't think I need any gift or celebration. If anyone really insists in giving a gift, I would like to have some "Thank You" self-made cards. Cards that are purchased are just too artificial.
Till this day, I've even kept the cards my P4 classmates gave me when I shifted to another school. I think these memories are priceless. I remembered the day they bade me goodbye, the laughter during the mini-party, the tears in some of their eyes, the smile of my wonderful teacher. If there are things one could bring to the grave, perhaps I would take all these.
You're all wonderful pupils. You've got a wonderful heart, you've got a wonderful learning attitude. May these things stay with you always. For one day, the birds would leave their nests. For one day, I may no longer be your teacher. When that fateful day comes, may all of you soar to a greater height.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
Best Regards,
Mr Wan
